Events timeline

Here the key events about Jiang's case is summarized. Feel free to suggest new events or details for existing events in the comments area of this post. You can do it anonymously but better with a source (URL to original web link, video, etc.).

* Jan, 2013. Dr. Jiang was fired in January, two months after taking a NASA-owned laptop computer with him on a visit to China, a violation of NASA security regulations.

* Arrest: his arrest March 16 as he prepared to board a China-bound plane at Dulles International Airport outside Washington. He is charged with lying to federal agents who questioned him about the computer equipments he was carrying.

* The prosecution appealed . Jiang is still being hold in prison. April 8th, 1pm. A hearing lasted for two hours. The judge did not decide immediately. Later, bail was not allowed. Jiang is still in custody as of today (April 15).
控方上诉,姜波并没有保释出来。4月8日下午1点hearing了两个小时,法官还没有做最终决定.最后还是没有允许保释。第二次听证会结果姜波不得保释,继续关押至庭审5-29

* A jury trial was set for May 29.

* May 2th. Dr. Jiang was exonerated in federal court of the felony charge of lying to federal investigators. This single charge had led to him being detained at the Chesapeake City Jail for the past six weeks while the FBI conducted a thorough investigation. After the charge was dropped, Dr. Jiang was released from custody yesterday and is returning home to China with his family.

* The case about Dr. Jiang may have ended. But the systematic bias and discrimination against people born in China is still epidemic in USA. There are still on an going case against a Chinese national in USA under the charge of commercial espionage.  We have to keep fighting against racial profiling Chinese for any kinds of ungrounded charges.
